YCIS Chinese Corner and another Newfoundlander in Shanghai.

CNY is in full swing. I had so much fun yesterday at the Chinese Corner at YCIS making CNY paper crafts and trying my hand at chinese calligraphy. They have a beautiful parent room at the upper school Gubei campus and only a short walk from my house. It was fun to learn about the meanings of all the characters and traditions.

One of the opportunities that YCIS offers parents is various language classes. And they’re free! I have no idea why I haven’t taken advantage of this is the past but I’m going to start attending after the break. I’m really making an effort to improve my Chinese so this is a perfect way to practice and meet more parents in our YCIS community. Special thanks to The YCIS parent coordinator, Carol Mao, for some of the photos.
Here are some pics from our get together.

Then in the evening, Glenn and I met our friends, Siobhan and Fraser Brown, for an adults only “last supper” before our ayis head home for the holidays. 😃😃  While we were out we met a Newfoundlander from Marystown!  Darryl Harding is a school administrator living in South Korea. It’s always so nice to meet people from home. ❤❤

This is us.

This morning, I’m off to meet Lisa Browne at the South Shanghai Railway Station to people watch as people head home for the holidays.  Did you know that people traveling home for Chinese New Year is the world’s largest migration?  Should be some good people watching and blog material. Stay tuned!

Until next time!

Only joy, only love,
